What will Shopify actually cost you?
The sticker price on a Shopify plan is the smaller half of the bill. Payment processing is the rest, and it scales with your revenue and your order count. Pick a plan, enter your monthly revenue and average order value, and see the whole number.
Pick a monthly revenue and enter your AOV to see your estimate. Until then the totals show plan subscriptions on their own, since those apply whether you sell anything or not.
All plans at your numbers
| Plan | Subscription | Processing | Total / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39 | 2.9% | $39.00 |
| GrowYour plan | $105 | 2.7% | $105.00 |
| Advanced | $399 | 2.5% | $399.00 |
| Shopify Plus | $2,300 | 2.15% estimated rate | $2,300.00 |
Rates as of August 2026. Shopify does not publish a Shopify Plus processing rate, so the 2.15% used here is an estimate, which is why any threshold involving Plus is marked approximate.
How this is calculated
Your monthly Shopify cost is the plan subscription plus payment processing. Processing has two parts: a percentage of every sale, and a flat $0.30 on every transaction. Because the flat fee is per order rather than per dollar, two stores with the same revenue pay different amounts depending on average order value, which is why the tool asks for AOV instead of an order count.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Online card rate | Per order |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39 | $29 | 2.9% | $0.30 |
| Grow | $105 | $79 | 2.7% | $0.30 |
| Advanced | $399 | $299 | 2.5% | $0.30 |
| Shopify Plus | $2,300 | Not published | 2.15% (estimate) | $0.30 |
Orders are derived from revenue and AOV rather than entered directly, and rounded to the nearest whole order. Figures are USD. Switching the calculator to annual billing applies Shopify's discounted annual subscription prices, shown in the table above.
Where the break-even points come from
A more expensive plan buys a lower card rate. End to end, moving from Basic to Shopify Plus takes 0.75% off the rate Shopify charges on each card sale, which is why the subscription alone is a poor guide at volume. That figure is read straight from the rate table above rather than quoted, so it moves when the rates do. It is Shopify's cut only and excludes whatever your own processor charges. Above some revenue the lower rate more than pays for the bigger subscription. Setting two plans' totals equal and solving gives (subscription difference) ÷ (rate difference). The $0.30 per-order fee is identical on every plan, so it appears on both sides and cancels out completely.
That has a consequence worth knowing: the thresholds depend only on revenue. Changing your average order value changes what you pay, but never which plan costs least. On monthly billing the crossovers land here:
- Grow overtakes Basic above $33,000 a month
- Advanced overtakes Grow above $147,000 a month
- Shopify Plus overtakes Advanced above $543,143 a month (approximate, see below)
This is a directional estimate, not a quote. Plan prices and card rates are as published by Shopify as of August 2026. Shopify advertises only “most competitive rates” for Shopify Plus, so the 2.15% used here is an estimate and no annual Plus price is published.
It also leaves out third-party payment gateway fees, which Shopify charges when you do not use Shopify Payments, plus the extra charges that apply to international and cross-border transactions, currency conversion, in-person rates, app subscriptions, and any negotiated Shopify Plus terms. Your real invoice will differ once those are in play.
